- Global evidence shows that learning environments are an important factor in attracting and keeping children in school, as well as improving learning outcomes. The government of Comoros hasmade a commendable effort in ensuring access to primary schools, despite beingfaced with recurrent damaging impacts of climate shocks to schoolinfrastructure. Every year cyclones cause extensive flooding and landslides, causing considerable damage to schools and leading to school closures. Inadequateprovision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities also risk thespreading of diseases especially after floods. The World Bank aims to conduct a survey on school infrastructure in public primary schools in Comoros. The survey aims to shed light on school infrastructure resilience against cyclones and floods, and provide a baseline on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)infrastructure in primary schools, as well as other information on public primary schools to shed light on their physicalcondition/state, and needs.
